Biography

Currently, Coach Linnehan is an assistant coach with the Bryant University Women’s Soccer Team. Hired in January of 2023, Linnehan is involved with all aspects of the Division 1 program. From recruiting to daily training sessions, Linnehan has contributed to a team that competes in a strong America East Conference.

Coach Linnehan started his coaching career In 1996, when he was hired as an assistant coach for the men’s soccer team at Framingham State University. He held that position for four seasons before moving onto Mount Ida College in Newton, MA where he held the same assistant coaching position for the men’s team there for six seasons.

Coach Linnehan then moved onto coaching at the youth level and started coaching club soccer in 2012 for the Spirit of Liverpool. After many successful years there, he moved to the Scorpions Soccer Club in 2017 and coached at the regional and ECNL levels. In 2022, he started coaching for Juventus Academy Boston at the EDS and DPL levels. He continues to coach at the club level for New England Football Club (NEFC) after being hired in the Fall of 2023.

In 2017, Linnehan was named the head girls varsity coach at Uxbridge High School. He was there for four seasons and accumulated a record of 36-19-9. During his time at Uxbridge, Linnehan’s 2018 Spartans were conference champions and won the Central MA District 4 Championship. After winning the District Championship the team qualified to compete for a state championship and fell one game short of playing for a state title. In his four years, Linnehan had the privilege to coach 7 conference all stars, 5 Central MA All Stars, 3 All State Players and 1 All New England Player. Several of those players have gone on to play in college.

In the fall of 2021, Coach Linnehan returned to college coaching and was named the first assistant at Framingham State University for the women’s soccer team. He held that position for two seasons and during his time the team finished fourth and fifth respectively in their division. In his first season (2021), the Rams won their first round conference playoff game and eventually lost to the conference champions in a semi-finals game. In his two seasons, Linnehan coached a first team all conference player and two, second team all conference players.

Linnehan was also an assistant coach with the New England Mutiny, a semi professional team who play in the United Women’s Soccer League which is the second division pro-am league in the United States. He started in March of 2020 and in the spring of 2022, Linnehan was named head coach of the Mutiny. During that season, the Mutiny finished first in the New England region with a record of 9-1 and were ranked #6 in the country out of 49 teams.

Coach Linnehan is a 1994 Framingham State University graduate and was a member of the men’s soccer team during his four years there. He played almost every minute of every game over his four years and was elected captain of the team for his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. He also won the team’s Most Valuable Player Award during his senior season.

Coach Linnehan is a MIAA/MSAA Certified Coach and holds several USC (United Soccer Coaches) diplomas. He also holds a National ‘D’ License from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and is pursuing his National ‘C’ License.
